Eagle Cane Project at Wilson House for Museum Walk Weekend - June 5 & 6 - FREE ADMISSION
On Saturday, June 5 and Sunday, June 6 from 1-4 PM Woodrow Wilson House will be hosting members of the Eagle Cane Project who will be demonstrating their cane carving skills during the Dupont-Kalorama Museum Walk Weekend. The Eagle Cane Project was founded in 2004 to provide wounded post-9-11 veterans who have served in Iraq or Afghanistan with symbolic presentation canes as artistic representations of support and respect. Each cane features a handle based upon an eagle head design, personalized for the veteran. This event is being offered in connection with Wilson House’s current exhibition, My Third Leg: Woodrow Wilson’s Walking Sticks, which showcases 50 of President Wilson’s most prized walking sticks, including imaginative folk art canes carved by veterans of previous wars. | |
