Wilson Biographer, John Milton Cooper to speak at Belgian Ambassador's Residence Thursday, November 12, 4-6 pm

John Milton Cooper, Jr., is professor of history at the University of Wisconsin. He is a graduate of Princeton University and was recently a fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C. He is the author of Breaking the Heart of the World: Wilson and the Fight for the League of Nations and The Warrior and the Priest: Woodrow Wilson and Theodore Roosevelt. |

Wilsonian Club to Mark Czech and Slovak Independence – November 2 at 2:00 p.m.
Join members of the Wilsonian Club and the Czech and Slovak Ambassadors at Wilson House for their annual commemoration of founding of Czechoslovakia in 1918. The annual gathering will take place at 2:00 pm on Monday November 2nd. In addition to the remarks of Ambassador Slavik and Ambassador Burian, Bob Doubek, President of the American Friends of the Czech Republic will give an update on the restoration of the Woodrow Wilson statue in Prague. A short reception follows. The event is open to the public and is free.

World War I Memorial Foundation Event at Wilson House
Monday, November 9th
The World War I Memorial Foundation will host a benefit reception at Woodrow Wilson to support the restoration of the World War I Memorial on the National Mall. The Foundation seeks to raise funds and enthusiasm for the restoration of the DC War Memorial and to sponsor the re-dedication of the site as a “national and District of Columbia World War I Memorial,” dedicated to all those who served in the Great War. Also featured will be an exhibition of photographs by David J. DeJonge, entitled, Last Survivors of World War I which chronicles the lives of 12 surviving Veterans of the Great War. The exhibition will remain view at Wilson House through November 11, 2009.

2009 Annual Report
Wilson House Advisory Board Chairman, Stuart Brahs and Wilson House Director, Frank Aucella traveled to the National Preservation Conference held in Nashville, TN in October. They gathered with representatives of the National Trust’s 29 Historic Sites and participated in a series of meetings and programs. Of note, the Wilson House Collections and Environmental Management Project, funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, was featured in a panel discussion led by Barbara Campagna, the Graham Gund Architect of the National Trust and Wilson House Project Consultant Wendy Jessup. The Conference also serves as the Annual Meeting of the National Trust Board of Trustees.
